Hooked Tackle director Spencer Hoard couldn’t have wished for a better trip to Carpasens when he topped a good haul with this 82 lb 12 oz common.
The 47-year-old from Newmarket, Suffolk, added a 62 lb 8 oz mirror, three 40s to 48 lb 8 oz and two 30s using Sticky Baits 20 mm and 24 mm Krill boilies.
Spencer said: “We had the whole 60 acres between six of us in total; myself and five customers of Hooked Tackle.
“I have now been to this particular venue for four years straight and off the back of a particularly ‘painful’ week catching only 35 bream last year.
“My first night this year having coming out of the draw in sixth place from a lesser favoured swim resulted in a carp bite in the early hours but it pulled out.
“The second night produced a 62 lb 8 oz mirror which would have been a great result alone.
“Then the weather changed and sport improved. When I had the big one I was shocked.
“I don’t imagine I will ever witness anything like it again for as long as I continue fishing, but I’m pretty sure I will die trying,” added the Hooked Tackle man.
