CARPER Bret Barlow summed up the feelings of anglers all over Britain as they enjoyed their days back by the water, fishing again
Depsite being carp-focused Brett doesn’t mind catching occasional big bream, and he came close to his PB of 14 lb 4 oz when he landed this 12 lb specimen from a local lake.
The 23-year-old joiner from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, said: “It feels absolutely banging to be back out on the bank after being on lockdown for nearly two months.
“I think the Angling Trust has done an amazing job, and can’t thank them enough for all the hard work they have been doing behind closed doors.
“What a way to restart my fishing season, by landing this specimen bream.
“It was not what I expected, but I don’t mind landing a big bream now and then.
“It fell to a 15 mm Mainline Cell pop-up on a Ronnie rig.
“I am currently chasing a PB Yorkshire carp, trying to get into that ’30 lb club’. I will give it 100 per cent this year, to try to achieve it.
“Just before lockdown, I landed my PB river pike, weighing 15 lb, along with a 5 lb brown trout, from the River Calder,” he added.
